The 15-member South African team has been announced for the Champions Trophy, which will begin on February 19 in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. In addition to playing Australia and England in their other group matches in Rawalpindi and Karachi, respectively, the Proteas will play Afghanistan in their tournament opener on February 21 at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Due to injuries, fast bowlers Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi missed the entire home international season but are now back. Ngidi had been injured in the groin, and Nortje was out with a broken toe. Remarkably, ten members of the 2023 World Cup squad who advanced to the semifinals were kept. Conversely, Wiaan Mulder, Ryan Rickelton, and Tony de Zorzi will be participating in an ICC event for the first time.

The past two years have seen South Africa perform incredibly well in the ICC events. After finishing second in the T20 World Cup last year, losing to India in the championship match, they advanced to the World Cup 2023 semifinals. They have also earned a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final, which will take place at Lord's in June against Australia.

The Proteas are vying for the Champions Trophy and are on the verge of winning the ICC trophy. Even though they recently lost the three-match ODI series at home to Pakistan, they still have great players in their line-up.
