The Indian Under-19 team set a mammoth target of 411 runs against the England Under-19 team in the final of the Under-19 World Cup 2026 on Friday. Chasing 412, England were bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs. India won the World Cup for the sixth time.

Thanks to Vaibhav Suryavanshi's blistering innings of 175 runs, the Indian Under-19 team set a mammoth target of 411 runs against the England Under-19 team in the final of the Under-19 World Cup 2026 on Friday.

This was the highest score of the tournament. Earlier, England had scored 404 runs against Scotland. Chasing 412 runs, England were all out for 311 runs in 40.2 overs. In this way, the Indian team won the match by 100 runs and won the Under-19 World Cup title for the sixth time.

Ayush becomes the sixth Indian.

Previously, the Indian team has won the Under-19 World Cup under the captaincy of Mohammad Kaif (2000), Virat Kohli (2008), Unmukt Chand (2012), Prithvi Shaw (2018), and Yash Dhull (2022). Now, Ayush Mhatre has joined this list.

Vaibhav storms in

Regarding the final match, Indian captain Ayush Mhatre won the toss and elected to bowl first. However, Aaron George (9) was caught out in the fourth over. Ayush then joined Vaibhav at number 3. While Ayush batted cautiously, Vaibhav batted in his usual style.

Vaibhav made no distinction between sixes and fours. He smashed 175 runs in 80 balls. During this period, the Indian batsman hit 15 fours and 15 sixes. Vaibhav reached his half-century in 32 balls and a century in 55 balls. During this period, Vaibhav set several records.

Captains Half-Century

Indian captain Ayush Mhatre scored a half-century. He and Vaibhav shared a 142-run partnership for the second wicket off 90 balls. Vedant Trivedi (32) and Vihaan Malhotra (30), who came in after Ayush's dismissal, also made significant contributions. In-form wicketkeeper-batsman Abhigyan Kundu missed out on a half-century, scoring 40 runs off 31 balls. RS Ambris contributed 18 runs.

Kanishk made a crucial contribution

In the end, Kanishk Chauhan's quickfire runs propelled India past 400. He smashed an unbeaten 37 off 20 balls. Chauhan hit three fours and a six in his innings. Bowlers Khilan Patel scored three and Henil Patel scored four. James Minto took three wickets, while Alex Green and Sebastian Morgan took two wickets each.

Ben missed his fifty

Chasing the target of 412, England managed only two or three partnerships. Furthermore, the team lost wickets at regular intervals. Joseph Moores (17) was bowled by Ambris in the fifth over. Ben Dawkins and Ben Mace then shared a 74-run partnership for the second wicket. Khilan Patel broke this partnership. He had Ben (45), who was nearing his half-century, caught by Henil Patel.

Opener Ben Dawkins added 49 runs with captain Thomas Rave (31). Kanishk Chauhan trapped the England captain and sent him to the pavilion. England then lost a few wickets in quick succession. The 21st and 22nd overs saw England suffer two blows each. Ben Dawkins scored 66 runs off 56 balls. Ralphie Albert was run out without opening his account.

Deepesh took 2 wickets

Deepesh Devendran, who came in to bowl the 22nd over, dismissed Farhan Ahmed (1) on the fourth ball. On the last ball of the over, Deepesh trapped Sebastian Morgan (0) caught and bowled. A significant lower-order partnership was seen between James Minto and Caleb Faulkner. The two played 80 balls and scored 92 runs. Ambris finally broke this partnership. He had Minto (41 balls, 28 runs) caught out.

Calb scored a century

Even though England were in a tight spot, Caleb Faulkner, who had been holding one end up, scored a century. He reached his century off 63 balls. After scoring the century, Caleb was caught out.
