The self-proclaimed Republic of Balochistan declared on Monday that August 11 would be the country's Independence Day and urged Baloch communities worldwide to commemorate the day with national festivities, just weeks after declaring independence from Pakistan, according to CNN-News18.
In a statement, the Republic of Balochistan urged people throughout the Baloch nation to celebrate the day together and urged the world community to accept what it called an independent and sovereign Balochistan.
Calls for nationwide and global celebrations
Mir Yar Baloch, the head of the Baloch freedom movement, called on people to fly the national flag of what he called an independent Balochistan at houses, neighbourhoods, marketplaces, stores, schools, and other public locations.
According to him, the purpose of the festivities was to pass on the day's historical significance to upcoming generations.
The declaration stated that August 11 is the Republic of Balochistan's Independence Day and that it will be celebrated annually.

Fresh appeal for international recognition
Calls for Balochistan's international recognition as a sovereign state were reiterated in the declaration.
According to the Republic of Balochistan, long-term peace, progress, and prosperity cannot be attained as long as Pakistan exists in its current configuration.
It called on the world community to endorse Balochistan's stance and publicly acknowledge its independence.
Additionally, the statement asserted that the 60 million Baloch people who make up the Republic of Balochistan see themselves as an independent and sovereign nation.
Why August 11?
Balochistan originally declared its independence on August 11, 1947, amid the British retreat from the Indian subcontinent, according to the group's statement.
The proclamation, according to the statement, was broadcast by All India Radio and covered by worldwide media, including The New York Times.
According to the group, the Baloch people have continued to celebrate August 11 as their Independence Day and will continue to do so in the future.
Criticism of Pakistan's record
According to the statement, decades of conflict, unrest, terrorism, economic instability, and political crises throughout the region followed the division of the Indian subcontinent.
It also claimed that Pakistan's policies had an impact on other regions of the world in addition to South Asia.
The Kashmir dispute, Pakistan's military action in Balochistan in March 1948, the conflict that resulted in the creation of Bangladesh in 1971, operations involving Palestinians in Jordan, the Soviet-Afghan war, Pakistan's 1998 nuclear tests in Chagai district, and events that followed the September 11 attacks in the United States were all mentioned.
The statement said that these developments contributed to the region's ongoing instability, strife, and violence.
The statement is made as India celebrates Independence Day on August 15 and Pakistan gets ready to celebrate its Independence Day on August 14.
