OnePlus Pad 3 Review: Reading the headline of this review, you might think the company is paying us. That's not the case at all. This is the second time this year that OnePlus has surprised me. The first time was in August, when I reviewed the OnePlus Pad Lite.
After seeing that ₹13,000 tablet, many people commented that a decent smartphone doesn't cost that much, and OnePlus has launched a tablet. The same is true for the OnePlus Pad 3. Until its price was revealed, many tech experts assumed the OnePlus Pad 3 would be priced in the ₹70,000 to ₹80,000 range, given its powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and numerous high-tech features. But when the price was revealed, everyone was stunned. Just ₹47,999.
Two or three people in the office said they would buy it. And when I reviewed this tablet, I realized that it's one of the most effective tablets under 50,000 rupees, and there's no reason to reject it. If you don't believe it, read this review.
OnePlus Pad 3 Design
The OnePlus Pad 3's design showcases the effort put into its design. If you can comfortably hold the large tablet with a 13.2-inch display with one hand, it's a design triumph.
Despite being a tablet with a large screen, the OnePlus Pad 3 can be held comfortably in the hand. The OnePlus Pad 3 comes in two colors - Classy Storm Blue and Frozen Silver. Our favorite is Storm Blue, with which the company has sent a cover and keyboard separately. The Pad 3 looks quite premium and is durable in material. It is just 5.97 mm sleek and weighs 675 grams. This sleekness and weight can be called excellent for a tablet.
My two-and-a-half-year-old daughter was able to comfortably carry this tablet from one room to another, using it as per her convenience. It's one of the slimmest tablets on the market, and it packs a large 12,140 mAh battery.
Its aluminum unibody design looks premium and you'll be able to hold it firmly in your hands. The tab's button setup is similar to the iPad. There's a Type-C port on the right side, volume buttons on the top, and a power button on the top left. There are two speaker grilles on each side, each with a setup of 8 speakers. There's a rear camera and LED flash at the top of the back.
The OnePlus Pad 3's cover also doubles as a stand. However, it must be purchased separately.
The cover and keyboard are available separately. The stylus pen is also available separately. The cover and keyboard have a solid build quality. The cover, attached to the tab, also doubles as a stand. The keyboard attaches magnetically, giving the entire setup a laptop-like feel.
OnePlus Pad 3 Display
As I mentioned, this tablet features a 13.2-inch screen. It's an LCD LTPS display with a 3.4K resolution. The display boasts 3392x2400 pixels. The bezels are also quite sleek for a tablet, with an 89.3% body-to-body ratio.
The display has a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz, and I set the screen to high-refresh rate upon setting up the tablet. Peak brightness is up to 900 nits, which is adequate for a tablet, as the tablet is mostly used in indoor environments. The display may become slightly dull if exposed to sunlight.
In my experience, the OnePlus Pad 3's display more than lives up to its price. The balance of color and contrast is excellent. Sharpness is also good. Whether attending online classes or meetings or simply enjoying a lot of entertainment, this screen delivers excellent results from every angle.
I watched several episodes of the "Delhi Crime" web series on Netflix, and the display was a good fit for my eyes. I didn't feel tired. Visuals were clear even at low brightness. The tablet presented night scenes as they should. However, it can't be compared to the displays on iPads or Samsung's premium tablets. The OnePlus Pad 3's display is among the best in its price range.
OnePlus Pad 3 Performance
Performance is where the OnePlus Pad 3 is hard to beat, as it features the fastest Snapdragon chipset ever, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This processor makes it one of the most powerful tablets around. My review unit came with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, along with an Adreno 830 GPU. The RAM I mentioned is LPDDR5x and comes with UFS 4.0. All these capabilities make it a powerful tablet.
It handles any kind of multitasking very quickly. It's pointless to mention lag or hangs, as I didn't notice any. This tablet plays 4K videos online smoothly. If you need to edit, you'll be able to do that without any lag. It could be the perfect choice for gamers. I played various games like Bus Simulator and Free Fire on it at maximum settings, and there were no complaints of lag or frame drops. I didn't need to check its benchmarks, as you won't find a faster tablet than this for ₹47,999 while I'm writing this review. I consider it the fastest Android tablet under ₹50,000, which will further improve your daily productivity.
Software and AI
The OnePlus Pad 3 runs on OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15. OnePlus has optimized its OS for tablets to minimize effort. For example, people tend to use their right hand more, so the navigation buttons are shifted more to the right. Shortcuts are also located on the same side. Some popular apps and settings are located in the bottom center so you don't have to move your fingers around too much on the screen. This allows you to make good use of the split screen and run two apps simultaneously.
The Notes app on the Tab is quite productive. Once you've untangled the keyboard, you'll discover its true purpose. It's very useful for taking notes. The Tab also has a dedicated Kids' Space, allowing you to customize the Tab for children.
OnePlus has included several AI tools in this tab, including Circle to Search in the Apps sidebar at the bottom. Additionally, AI can be used for translation and summary creation. The keyboard also has a dedicated AI button, pressing which opens Google Gemini. Overall, the company has integrated OnePlus AI into the OnePlus Pad 3 quite well.
OnePlus Pad 3 Camera
I've always believed that cameras don't play much of a role in tablets, except for online meetings or online studies. You probably won't see anyone buying a tablet just for the cameras. The OnePlus Pad 3 has a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The rear camera can shoot 4K videos.
That's just paperwork. In real life, the OnePlus Pad 3's cameras may be better than other tablets in this price range, given the upgraded processor. Still, you won't get the quality of a smartphone camera. You can click and take a photo or scan documents. The front camera can be used for online studies, meetings, or video calls, but don't expect anything special here.
OnePlus Pad 3 Battery
The OnePlus Pad 3's battery is its biggest selling point. It packs a whopping 12,140 mAh of power and supports 80W SuperVOOC charging. I used this tablet as a moderate user. After a full charge over the weekend, I watched Netflix for 3 to 4 hours, browsed online on the Chrome browser for about an hour, and played for about an hour.
Additionally, my two daughters used the tablet for about an hour each to watch YouTube. From morning until evening, the tablet had 30 percent battery left. I needed to charge it the next afternoon. Simply put, it comfortably lasts for one to one and a quarter days, and fully charges in about an hour.
OnePlus Pad 3 Other Features
Among the other features of the OnePlus Pad 3, I'd like to mention the speakers. It comes with an 8-speaker setup, including 4 woofers and 4 tweakers. I haven't experienced such amazing sound from any tablet I've reviewed. Believe me, if you don't use loud speakers, like a home theater, the OnePlus Pad 3's speakers are sufficient. They produce clear, rich, and bass-rich sound. From watching movies to listening to music, your room will resonate with powerful sound.
OnePlus Pad 3 Our Verdict
OnePlus has put its best effort into the OnePlus Pad 3. At a starting price of ₹47,999, I'd call it the best tablet of the year so far. Its premium and sleek design, decent display, excellent performance, and long battery life are its biggest strengths.
The speakers are excellent. The user interface is clean. Using the cover and keyboard, which are available separately, will give you a laptop-like experience. Even if you're just looking to buy a tablet, it will live up to your expectations. Hardly any other brand can offer something like this at its price! 4 stars for the OnePlus Pad 3 from me
