To help small enterprises, Meesho welcomes non-GST vendors on its marketplace.
Meesho's statement follows the government's recent decision to remove the requirement for small e-commerce enterprises to register for the Goods and Services Tax.
Meesho is an Online Marketplace
Meesho, an online marketplace, stated on Tuesday that it will allow NON-GST registered businesses to use its platform. This will help a sizable network of tiny e-commerce companies all over the nation.
The choice was made in response to the government's recent abolition of the requirement for small e-commerce enterprises to register for the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Sanjeev Barnwal, the CTO of Meesho, made the announcement on social network X (formerly known as Twitter), noting that it will significantly alter the e-commerce environment in the nation.
"A significant event for Meesho and small enterprises in India Today, we proudly recognize a historic milestone at Meesho as we extend a warm welcome to non-GST vendors on our platform!" said Barnwal.
He continued, "The Government of India's historic decision to remove the requirement for small e-commerce enterprises to register for GST represents a massive step towards our ambitious aim of digitizing 10 million vendors by the year 2027.
The government's decision, which will take effect on October 1, is in accordance with the GST Council's most recent announcement, which allows e-commerce platforms to accept non-GST registered vendors with annual sales of up to Rs 40 lakh.
This timely exception, according to Barnwal, will enable Meesho to "unlock vast opportunities for millions of resilient SMEs" nationwide and greatly improve our product offerings for customers.
"Our commitment to this life-changing experience is unwavering. We picture a country where every aspiring businessperson in India, regardless of GST registration, may succeed online. Together, we are ready to write a new chapter of inclusion, economic expansion, and national empowerment!" he exclaimed.
Vidit Aatrey, the CEO and founder of Meesho, praised the government's responsiveness to the needs of numerous SMEs nationwide as well as artisans, craftsmen, and women entrepreneurs.
"We applaud the government's attention to the aspirations of numerous SMEs across the country as well as artisans, craftsmen, and women entrepreneurs. We are well-positioned to create an Atmanirbhar Bharat and advance our MSMEs into the Digital Age as India's sole authentic e-commerce marketplace, according to Autrey.
