Following the American's victory in the women's singles tournament at the US Open 2023 on Saturday, a video of a young Coco Gauff rejoicing in the audience as an eight-year-old has surfaced.

The 19-year-old American Gauff won her maiden Grand Slam singles championship at the US Open on September 9. Gauff defeated Aryna Sabalenka in a dramatic three-set encounter with an incredible comeback.

With her strong baseline game, Sabalenka dominated the opening set, winning 6-2. Gauff appeared to be having trouble as Sabalenka's aggressive play continually put pressure on her forehand, which was failing. Gauff had previously dropped the first set in this competition, thus she was by no means out of the running.

Early in the second set is when everything changed. Gauff started to reduce the length of her backswing, play less defensively, and attack her targets more forcefully. When she broke Sabalenka's serve in the fourth game, she took a 3-1 lead, proving that her strategy change was successful. Gauff was supported by the audience as they sensed the match's momentum shifting. Sabalenka only went on to win four more games after this.

Gauff's tenacious defence and enhanced forehand began to force Sabalenka into mistakes. Sabalenka was forced to make more shots from awkward places after previously firing strong shots from inside the baseline. Ultimately, she made 46 unforced errors compared to 19 by Gauff.

Gauff kept up her pace in the crucial third set despite a small hiccup during Sabalenka's medical timeout. After being broken for 4-2, she instantly broke back, and the set changed to one-way play. In the decisive game, Sabalenka committed three mistakes in a row, giving Gauff a triple championship point. She won the match with a calm backhand winner down the line to earn her first Grand Slam title.

Gauff defeated his opponent 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 at Arthur Ashe Stadium in two hours and six minutes.

With this triumph, Gauff became the third American youngster to win the US Open women's final, following Serena Williams in 1999 and Tracy Austin in 1979.

The US Open has now posted a lovely video of a kid Gauff having a blast in the stands on their official social media account.

Gauff revealed following her victory on Saturday that she will go to the US Open to see Serena and Venus Williams play.
