Huawei tri-fold phone receives 3 million pre-orders ahead of Apple's iPhone 16 launch
September 9 The triple-folding smartphone from Chinese tech giant Huawei (HWT.UL) has received over 3 million pre-sales, according to the company's website on Monday. This news comes only hours before Apple (AAPL.O) opens new orders for its latest iPhone generation.

As stated on its WeChat social media account, Huawei's Mate XT, a Z-shaped tri-fold phone, would be unveiled during a launch event on Tuesday.
Customers who pre-order will be notified of how to purchase the phone at the launch event on Tuesday, and will not be required to make a down payment.
Strong pre-order numbers demonstrate Huawei's resilience to US sanctions and bolster its standing as a significant rival to Apple, which slashed prices earlier this year in an effort to hold onto market share.
The Huawei launch event is scheduled to happen soon after Apple's September 9 event, at which the company is expected to unveil its iPhone 16 series, highlighting the incorporation of AI technology into its flagship products.
Huawei was the biggest seller of foldable phones in China in the second quarter, with a 42% share of the domestic market, according to consultancy IDC.
