Another IT company delays onboarding new hires, jeopardizing the careers of approximately 700 people.

Due to the difficult macroeconomic conditions, numerous technology and information technology companies have delayed onboarding new hires in addition to laying off thousands of employees. reportedly joining the list of another IT technology company, LTIMindtree, that has delayed hiring new employees. The offer letter was given to the candidates in January of last year.

Moneycontrol says that LTIMindtree sent out the offer letter to about 600–700 freshmen, but none of them have been hired yet. According to the IT-employee union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), the company is instead requesting that each of these candidates participate in a brand-new training program to demonstrate their eligibility. The job offer is said to have been extended to these freshmen in January 2022, which is more than a year ago. In addition, the report stated that these candidates were selected from their campuses in November 2021 and received offer letters in January 2022.

Candidates now reportedly believe that the company is trying to fire them through the so-called training program. If the candidate does not take part in the training program, the offer letters are said to be canceled immediately.

To keep their jobs, the report says that every 600–700 freshmen will have to go through this new training and screening program. "Instead of providing them with an onboarding date, the company has introduced a 6- to 7-week long learning and training program," Moneycontrol quoted NITES president Harpreet Singh Saluja as saying. The freshers have been given two choices: to take this assessment-based training, or their previous offer will be automatically withdrawn.

According to the report, the program will grade these newcomers after a training program that consists 80% of self-paced learning and 20% of instructor-led training. It is expressed that around 40% of the weight will be given to numerous decision questions (MCQ) and 60 percent to coding tasks. Candidates will be eligible if they score 60% or higher on each assignment, according to the report. Candidates will have two attempts at each assignment. However, there is a catch.

In addition, it is stated that attaining the required percentage will not automatically entitle you to join the freshmen. The eligible new hires, according to the business, will be "considered for onboarding in batches based on business demand," the company stated.

"This behavior goes against ethical business practices and is completely unacceptable. It might also set a bad example for how to recruit in the future. Obviously the organization is placing these first year recruits in a condition of vulnerability and involving this new program as a method for postponing their onboarding," Saluja said.

Indeed, this isn't whenever that an IT first organization has deferred onboarding green beans. During severe economic crises, Infosys and Accenture have also delayed onboarding new employees.
