Pope Francis' last message

"Dear brothers and sisters, Happy Easter!"
Today at last, the singing of alleluia was heard once again in the church, which is reaching from heart to heart. This is a matter of joy for the people of God all over the world. From the empty tomb in Jerusalem, we hear the good news: Jesus, who was crucified, "is not here, he is risen" (Luke 24:5). Jesus is not in the grave; he is alive!
Love has conquered hatred, light has conquered darkness and truth has conquered falsehood. Forgiveness has conquered vengeance. Evil has not disappeared from history; it will remain to the end, but it no longer has dominion; it no longer has power over those who accept the grace of this day.
Sisters and brothers, especially those of you who are experiencing pain and sorrow, your silent cries have been heard and your tears have been counted; not a single one of them has been lost! In the suffering and death of Jesus, God has taken upon Himself all the evil in this world and defeated it with His infinite mercy. He has uprooted the satanic pride that poisons the human heart and spreads violence and corruption everywhere. Today, we can joyfully say, "Christ, my hope, is risen!"
Christ is risen! These words capture the whole meaning of our existence, because we are not made for death but for life. Easter is a celebration of life! God created us for life and wants the human family to be resurrected! In His eyes, every life is precious! The life of a child in the mother's womb, as well as the life of the elderly and the sick.
Death and murder we see every day in the many conflicts that are going on in different parts of the world! How much violence we see, often even within families, against women and children! How much contempt is shown towards the weak, the marginalized and migrants! On this day, I want all of us to find new hope and to restore our trust in others, including those who are different from us or who come from faraway lands, bringing unfamiliar customs, ways of life and ideas! Because we are all children of God!
