Hawkeye for wide balls

Rules-1: Salvia ban lifted
Another important change that has come in IPL 2025 is the lifting of the ban on Salvia. Actually, bowlers use saliva to shine the ball. But after the arrival of Corona, the ICC banned doing so in the year 2022. The reason behind this was to protect the cricketers from coronavirus infection. Now, after getting the consent of all the captains, the BCCI has removed this rule in the IPL.

Rules-2: Second new ball in the second innings
Dew plays an important role in many IPL matches. Due to this, many times the team bowling in the second innings has to suffer. Due to the ball getting wet due to dew, the bowlers lose control over it and the batsmen score runs. To deal with this factor in IPL, a provision is being made to use a new ball in the 11th over of the second innings. According to a BCCI official, this is not a change in the rules.

Rules-3: No ban on captains for over-rate (DRS for wide balls)
Till now captains were banned for over rate. But in this IPL season, captains will not be banned for over rate. According to reports, instead, captains will be given demerit points. Yes, a ban can also be imposed if the situation gets very bad. In the 2024 season, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya had to face such a ban. Pant missed playing a very important match against RCB.
Having a new captain will also increase the excitement
At least seven teams (regular and temporary) will take the field with new captains in IPL 2025. Some of these players will lead their team only in a few matches due to various reasons. The most surprising decision was made by RCB by appointing Rajat Patidar as the captain.
Star batsman Virat Kohli is also included in the RCB team and it will be interesting to see how Patidar captains the team.
