Dravid has a long history with Rajasthan Royals. He was their captain in IPL 2012 and 2013 and worked as team director and mentor in the 2014 and 2015 IPL seasons. In 2016, Dravid moved to Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).
In 2019, Rahul Dravid got the responsibility of the head of the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. In the year 2021, he was appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. In his three-year coaching tenure, Dravid led the Indian team to the WTC finals 2021 and 2023, ODI World Cup 2023 final. On 29 June 2024, under his coaching, Team India became the champion in the T20 World Cup.
Vikram Rathod will also return
The Cricinfo report also claimed that Rajasthan Royals could appoint former India batsman Vikram Rathod as Dravid's assistant coach. Former India selector Rathod was part of Dravid's coaching staff at the NCA before becoming India's batting coach in 2019.
The report said that Dravid will take over the coaching of Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. At the same time, Kumar Sangakkara, who has been the team's Director of Cricket since 2021, will remain with the franchise and will look after their teams in other leagues.
