During the Chennai Super Kings' open practice session on Monday, March 27, MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja were met with raucous applause at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Due to the forced COVID-19 restrictions, the Chepauk crowd was able to see the most successful Indian cricket captain after a long wait of three years. On their social media channels, CSK posted videos in which the crowd is seen waiting for a glimpse of their "Thala," MS Dhoni.

In addition to Dhoni and Jadeja, Chennai's most expensive players from the 2022 auction, Deepak Chahar put in a shift during the practice session. Chennai hopes that their players will work together better this season, allowing them to forget their awful, contentious 2022 campaign.

Additionally, it's possible that MS Dhoni will retire from the Indian Premier League after this season. The legendary captain had hinted during the previous season that he would like to travel across the country for the 2023 tournament to say goodbye to the fans. Last season, Chennai attempted to hand over the captaincy to start their transition from Dhoni, but in the middle of the tournament, that failed disastrously.

This season, Chennai has players like Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes in their ranks, so they will continue to look for a captain. Ali has been a phenomenal performer for CSK since leaving Royal Challengers Bangalore following the 2020 season, despite the fact that this is Stokes' first season in Chennai.
