In the Indian Premier League, the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings have faced off in 31 games since 2008. The Royals have won 15 of their head-to-head games against CSK, while the Super Kings have won 16.

The Royals defeated the opposition by eight wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 5, 2008, when the two teams first faced off in the first IPL season.

Sohail Tanvir, a left-arm bowler, scored 6/14 with the ball as the Royals bowled first, dismissing CSK for a pitiful 109. Munaf Patel added 2 wickets as well. Up until 2019, Tanvir's bowling performance was the greatest in the IPL, then Alzarri Joseph surpassed it.

However, it remains the finest bowling performance of any Royals bowler in the IPL to date. With 34 balls remaining, the Royals reached the mark in response for just two wickets lost.

Swapnil Asnodkar scored 32 while Graeme Smith, who was unbeaten, led the Royals in scoring with 35. Additionally, this is the Royals' greatest IPL victory vs CSK.

In the first season, the Royals faced CSK three times and won each time. In one of their most memorable victories of the competition, the Royals defeated CSK in the 2008 IPL final. Yusuf Pathan concluded with 3/22 from his four overs as the Royals, choosing to field first, held CSK to 163/5.

Tanvir took a wicket, as did Shane Watson. Before being run out, Pathan scored 56 off 39 balls to lead the chase once more. However, Tanvir and captain Shane Warne made sure that the Royals won by three wickets thanks to a last-ball finish.

Yusuf Pathan was named Player of the Final, making the Royals the first IPL champions. In their 2010 IPL match, the Royals scored their highest total of 223/5 against CSK, although they were defeated by 23 runs.

Shane Watson concluded with 2/47 for the Royals while CSK, batting first, scored 246/5. In response, Shane Watson scored an incredible 60 off only 25 balls, including five fours and five sixes, while Naman Ojha blasted 94 off just 55 balls, hitting eight fours and six sixes.

The Royals have won four of their seven encounters at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, while the Super Kings have won three. In 2023, the Royals defeated CSK here by a margin of 32 runs.

The best individual performance by a Rajasthan Royals hitter against the Chennai Super Kings is still Shane Watson's 101 off 61 balls at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in 2013. Watson reached his century by hitting six fours and six sixes, but sadly, CSK won the match by five wickets that evening, leaving the Royals on the losing side.

The Royals won four straight games against CSK between 2021 and 2023, which was their longest winning run.
