Ravindra Jadeja, an all-rounder for CSK, made a comeback to form during the Indian Premier League match against KKR at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium. Jadeja delivered an impressive performance of 3/18 to lay the stage for Chennai to win the championship. Jadeja's play in the competition helped CSK end their two-match losing streak. CSK pacers Tushar Deshpande (3/33) and Mustafizur Rahman (2/22), who filled in for Matheesha Pathirana, provided Jadeja with strong support.

For the first time in the Indian Premier League 2024, KKR had a terrible time in the game that day since they were unable to make any kind of impression with the bat. Even though KKR scored 56/1 in the powerplay, they were only able to muster 137 runs in the opening inning. Later on, though, more on it.

With dew in force, CSK had no trouble reaching the target of 138 runs, reaching it with 7 wickets and 14 balls remaining. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of CSK, earned crucial time on the crease and scored his maiden fifty of the competition. Ruturaj helped CSK reach the mark with ease while staying undefeated at 67 off 58 balls. Ruturaj scored the game-winning runs when MS Dhoni was watching. With just three runs needed in the game, the illustrious former captain onto the field and went undefeated at one off three balls.

Shivam Dube, who struck 28 off 18 balls, gave the fans some excitement during what was otherwise a somewhat boring contest. When the game entered its sixteenth over, Dube was hitting two massive sixes to Varun Chakravarthy, displaying his peak spin-hitting ability.

CSK vs KKR: IYERS' TERRIBLE TIME

In their batting powerplay, KKR was hitting at a rate of ten runs per over. KKR slipped into a self-preserving shell after taking two quick wickets in the seventh over of the first innings, just managing to hold out the nine overs of spin that CSK bowled that day. Mahesh Theekshana scored seven runs per over in his four overs, while Jadeja and Rachin Ravindra recorded economies of four and four-and-half, respectively.

The two KKR Iyers were unable to provide the team the boost they sorely needed that day. Jadeja claimed Venkatesh (3 off 8) while captain Shreyas played an innings of 34 off 32 balls that defied explanation. In the game's last over, with KKR faltering under the pressure of CSK's bowling lineup, Shreyas was removed. Following the powerplay, CSK bowled beautifully, driving their balls deep into the pitch and providing the KKR hitters with absolutely no pace at all. The inability of players like Andre Russell and Rinku Singh to make the big shots proved to be the decisive factor in KKR's defeat that day.

After Rachin Ravindra was removed early on, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell calmed CSK down when they batted. The pair put on 70 runs in 55 balls to put CSK in a commanding position. Shivam Dube and Gaikwad combined to score 38 off 26 after Mitchell was dismissed, completely ending KKR's chances of winning the match.

With the victory, CSK continued their dominance at home and claimed their third straight victory at Chepauk. After suffering their first defeat, KKR—one of the two teams remaining unblemished in the competition—will now play LSG at home in Eden Gardens on April 14.
