IPL 2023: Moeen Ali asserts that the rivalry between MI and CSK is comparable to that between Manchester United and Liverpool.
Chennai Super Lords all-rounder Moeen Ali has compared the serious fight among MI and CSK in the IPL to the celebrated football competition between Manchester Joined together and Liverpool.
Moeen Ali, an all-rounder for the Chennai Super Kings, compared the intense battles that his team is having with Mumbai Indians, the defending champions of the Indian Premier League, to the legendary football rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool on Friday.
IPL 2023: Points Table
Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai's traditional rivals, will face off in the IPL's El Clasico at the Wankhede Stadium. It is a well-known rivalry that thrills not only the players involved but also the fans of both teams. Tickets sell out quickly when they go on sale online, and TRPs are at their highest level. Liverpool and Manchester United are considered to be the most significant regional football rivalry in England. Their rivalry is fierce.
Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in IPL history with five titles, followed by Chennai Super Kings with four. However, their rivalry, also known as the IPL's El Clasico, is skewed in favor of Mumbai Indians, who have won 20 of their 34 meetings with CSK. Both teams have struggled since the mega auction in 2022, when they lost a core of their players.
"I'm really looking forward to playing this game." The two most successful franchises have a huge following of fans. Outside of international cricket, this is one of the most important cricket games.
"From a football player's perspective, it is comparable to Manchester United versus Liverpool. At CSK's training session on Friday evening at the Wankhede Stadium, Moeen told the media, "These are huge games."
Moeen Ali offered his support to CSK's strike bowler Deepak Chahar, who struggled in the team's first two matches against Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans and stated that he required more playing time.
"I believe the only thing he lacks is game time," she said. He suffered a severe injury and is returning after a lengthy absence. Except if you can bowl in a legitimate game, which you really want as a bowler, he will get better as the competition goes on.
According to Moeen, "he is a big bowler for us, and when he gets it right, he gets three or four wickets in the powerplay."
