SRH vs. MI: THE FACTS

In Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Mayank Agarwal and Head gave SRH a great start, with the Australian blasting Kwena Maphaka, the adolescent bowler who was making his debut for MI, for 22 runs in the third over. After making 13-ball 112 runs, Agarwal left the game, but the havoc continued as Head and Abhishek Sharma combined to punish the Mumbai bowlers.

Together, they destroyed experienced spinner Piyush Chawla for 21 runs and South African pacer Gerald Coetzee for 23 runs, establishing a 68-run partnership off of only 22 balls. Head reached the fifty-run mark with the fewest deliveries—just eighteen—for SRH.

In the ninth over, Coetzee top-edged a delivery to Naman Dhir at the backward point, and that was eventually enough to undo him. However, the damage had already been done when he left the pitch, having hit nine boundaries and three sixes in his 62 runs off just 24 balls.

Even after Head was dismissed, Abhishek continued to bat, going after the MI bowlers. The 23-year-old reached the 50-run milestone in just 16 deliveries, shattering Head's record for the fastest fifty for SRH. Before Piyush Chawla dismissed him, he had scored sixty-three runs off 23 balls, hitting seven sixes and three boundaries. Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen, two South Africans, consistently hit boundaries and maintained a high scoring rate.

In the fifteenth over, the home team scored 200 runs, and in the seventeenth over, they surpassed their highest scorer with 231 for 2. In the last over, SRH surpassed RCB's record for the highest-ever total as Klaasen reached his half-century. They set a record for Mumbai to chase as they concluded with 277 for 3 in 20 overs.
