Soon after gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were killed by unidentified assailants in the midst of tight police security in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called a meeting for senior UP Police officials, including the director general of police (DGP) and additional director general of police (ADGP).

The meeting is being held at the Lucknow residence of CM Yogi. The chief minister is upset about the unprecedented killings of Atiq and Ashraf in the midst of tight police security, according to sources.

Gross domestic product Chief RK Vishwakarma informed the central clergyman about the occurrence.

Prayagraj Police told reporters that the three people posed as members of the media and opened fire on Atiq Ahmad and his brother Asharaf, according to preliminary reports.

Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf were taken to the hospital by police for a medical checkup when they were killed around 10 p.m. The incident was caught on camera by media workers who were following the handcuffed pair.

Three people have been arrested for firing on the two of them.

According to police, Ahmed and Ashraf's bloodied bodies were removed from the scene as a result of the high level of tension in the area following the shocking murders.
