The Indian men's cricket team defeated Bangladesh by 60 runs in the final ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up match on Saturday at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, thanks in large part to a half-century from Rishabh Pant.

The comeback Pant, who hasn't competed for India since December 2022 due to injuries he received in an automobile accident, scored 53 runs to lead his team to 182 for five.

The Tigers failed to respond as Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dube both made impressive bowling performances, claiming two wickets apiece.

After the match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma stated, "I'm quite happy with how things went." "The match gave us pretty much exactly what we desired... It was crucial to adjust to the circumstances. It's crucial to get used to the new ground, drop-in pitch, and location, which we handled fairly well.

Even the bowlers performed admirably. All in all, I'm satisfied with how everything turned out, Rohit said.

In New York, India chose to bat first and lost Sanju Samson for a single, but captain Rohit Sharma (23) and Pant steadied the innings.

After hitting four fours and four sixes in his 32-ball half-century, the wicketkeeper announced his retirement. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya gave the late momentum.

India defeated Bangladesh 183 thanks to strikes from Suryakumar Yadav (31 from 18 deliveries) and Hardik Pandya (unbeaten 40 from 23), who four times cleared the ropes. With one wicket for twenty-two in his four overs, Mahedi Hasan was the standout player for the Tigers.

Arshdeep Singh took two early wickets to put the Bangladesh cricket team on the back foot in the fourth over, bringing them to 10 for three.

That quickly changed to 41 for five in the ninth over, and even though Mahmadullah (40), who had retired, and Shakib Al Hasan (28), together put up a 70-run stand for the sixth wicket, Dube claimed two wickets in an over to seal an easy victory for the Indians.

Bangladesh takes on Sri Lanka two days after India's opening group match at the T20 World Cup against Ireland on Wednesday.
