Punjab defended the lowest score, marking the first time in IPL history that such a miracle occurred.
Punjab Kings have created a new history in IPL. Punjab has set a new record by defending the score of 111 runs against Kolkata.

The Punjab Kings squad, or PBKS, outperformed the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 31st IPL 2025 match. In an exciting low-scoring encounter, Punjab defeated Kolkata by 16 runs, making new history. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the home team, Punjab, fell apart for a mere 111 runs.
Punjab's batsmen were unable to play regularly. The most runs (30) were contributed by Prabhsimran. Harshit Rana grabbed as many wickets as possible for Kolkata. Varun Chakraborty and Sunil Narine each claimed 2-2 wickets at the same moment.
Punjab created new history
In response to Punjab's score of 111 batsmen, Kolkata's team was out after scoring 95 runs in 15.1 overs. In this way, Punjab did a great feat of making the lowest score in IPL. Earlier, the record of scoring the lowest score in IPL was in the name of Chennai Super Kings. CSK had maintained the score of 116/9 in IPL 2009.
Now Punjab has restored this record of CSK. You will be surprised to know that the record of making the biggest goal chase in IPL is also registered in the name of Punjab Kings. The interesting thing is that Punjab did this big feat against Kolkata in IPL 2024.
Record of lowest total runs also broken
Punjab Kings and Kolkata together scored a total of 206 runs in this match, which is the record for the lowest total runs made in a match in IPL. Earlier, this feat was seen in the Punjab vs Kolkata match in IPL 2009. In that match played in Durban, both the teams had scored a total of 237 runs.
Kolkata batsmen disappointed
Chasing Punjab's modest score, Kolkata batsmen were also seen struggling. In the first 2 overs, Kolkata openers Sunil Narine and Quinton de Kock returned to the pavilion. After this, captain Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi took charge and took the score to 62 runs.

After this, Punjab spinner Chahal used his spin magic and got Rahane and Raghuvanshi out in his 2 consecutive overs. After this, Venkatesh Iyer became the victim of Maxwell in the 11th over. Half of Kolkata's team had returned to the pavilion at a score of 74 runs.
Punjab bowlers did wonders
Chahal, who came to bowl in the 12th over after Maxwell, dismissed Rinku Singh and Ramandeep Singh on 2 consecutive balls and pushed Kolkata on the backfoot. After this, Marco Jansen dismissed Harshit Rana and raised the hope of Punjab's victory.
Kolkata got the 9th blow in the form of Vaibhav Arora. After this, Andre Russell tried to turn the match in his favor by playing some big shots, but in the end Marco Jansen took the last wicket and gave Punjab a thrilling victory. Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored the highest 37 runs for Kolkata.
Raghuvanshi hit 5 fours and 1 six in his innings. Yuzvendra Chahal took the highest 4 wickets for Punjab. Marco Jansen took the wicket of 3 batsmen.
