6-time world champion boxer MC Mary Kom has confirmed her divorce. Mary Kom confirmed her divorce from Onkholor Kom through a legal statement issued through her lawyer on Wednesday and termed the rumours of her affair with Hitesh Choudhary as baseless.
Mary's lawyer issued a statement
The statement issued by Mary's lawyer said, 'In view of these speculations and incorrect media reports, I would like to issue the following clarification that M.C. Mary Kom and Onkholer (Onler) Kom are no longer married and have finalized the divorce by mutual consent under Kom Customary Law in the presence of members of both families and clan leaders on 20 December 2023.'
The statement said, 'The rumours of my client (Mary) being involved in a relationship with Hitesh Chaudhary or being in a relationship with the husband of any other boxer are categorically denied and should not be propagated by any media platform.'

Mary also forbade the media from interfering in her personal life. Mary's lawyer said, 'For the last two years, my client has been going through a very challenging time in her personal life, especially with her ex-husband. In this difficult time, my client requests her friends, fans and well-wishers to give her the necessary space and privacy to get through this difficult time.'
The statement further said, 'This notice is a formal request to all media entities, in all forms, to refrain from making baseless speculations about my client. It is important that the media respects Mary Kom's privacy and personal space. A press conference has already been held in Manipur in this regard.'
"Failure to comply with these requests will result in legal action being taken against violators of this notice, including, but not limited to, both civil and criminal defamation claims and violation of privacy rights, in accordance with applicable laws," it said.
