India has picked three fast bowlers for the first Test against Bangladesh at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and decided to bowl first after cloudy weather in Chennai. It is worth noting that the last time a team decided to bowl at Chepauk was in 1982. So Shanto has become the first captain to do so on this ground after 42 years. India captain Rohit Sharma also revealed his plan to bowl first after losing the toss and informed that the management has included three fast bowlers for the match.

Akash Deep will be part of a talented squad that includes Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. When India played Bangladesh in a Day/Night Test in Kolkata in 2019, they fielded three fast bowlers for that match at home. After Bumrah retired during the fourth Test against England in Ranchi earlier this year, Akash made a stunning debut in international cricket. The 27-year-old dismissed Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope all in a brilliant new ball spell of 3/83 in the first innings.

Recently, he had a stellar season for India A in the Duleep Trophy, where he picked up nine wickets in the first round of the tournament against India B at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Aakash registered figures of 9/116 in two innings and scored a brilliant 43 (42) in the second inning.

Bangladesh also field three seamers

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have been included as the two spinners. KL Rahul, who missed the last four Tests of the series against England, has also returned to the squad. The 32-year-old has been selected in place of Sarfaraz Khan, who impressed everyone in his debut series against England in Rahul's absence.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is also making a comeback to the Test team after more than 20 months. On the other hand, Bangladesh has fielded the same playing eleven as it won its last Test match against Pakistan, which includes Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana and Hasan Mahmud as three fast bowlers.

Bangladesh (Playing XI): Shadman Islam, Zakir Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das (w), Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana

India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (w), KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj
