Team India will not play a single ODI match this year i.e. 2024. Recently, the Indian team played a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Team India had to face defeat in this series. At the same time, no Indian batsman could score a century in this series. With this, the series of centuries that had been going on for 38 years also came to an end. You will be surprised to know that this year, no batsman from India has been able to score a century.
This happened after 38 years
This is the first time in the last 38 years in the history of Indian cricket that no Indian batsman has been able to score a century in ODI cricket for the entire year. This year, the biggest innings for India was played by captain Rohit Sharma, which was of 64 runs. In the second ODI against Sri Lanka, the Hitman played a stormy innings of 64 runs. Even though it is only the eighth month of the year i.e. August, the Indian cricket team will not play any ODI match in 2024. Now this year Team India will play only Test and T20 matches.
The last time in the history of Indian cricket this happened was in 1985, when no batsman scored a century throughout the year. In 1985, captain Mohammad Azharuddin played the biggest innings. He then played an innings of 93 runs. The interesting thing is that this year too the captain played the biggest innings.
By the way, for your information, let us tell you that Team India has played only three ODI matches this year i.e. 2024. It is not that Indian batsmen played ODI cricket throughout the year and did not score any century. Since the 2023 ODI World Cup, the Indian team played a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka only in August and now Team India will play this format against England next year.
