In India's World Cup 2023 semifinal match at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, Virat Kohli smashed his 50th ODI century, setting a new record. In the ODI World Cup, Kohli became the first cricket player to ever score eight or more fifty-plus runs.

In the World Cup 2023 semi-final on Wednesday, November 15, Virat Kohli scored a century against New Zealand, writing history with a significant ODI cricket milestone. Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most hundreds in 50-over international cricket was broken by Kohli, who became the first player to ever score 50 ODI hundreds.
On November 5, the former cricket player's birthday, he played a league stage match against South Africa at Kolkata's Eden Gardens, breaking Sachin's record of 49 hundreds. At Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, he finally put an end to a long wait by smashing a spectacular century while Sachin was present.
It took Kohli 106 balls to reach his hundred, and he leaped into the air to celebrate. His wife, Bollywood veteran Anushka Sharma, was among the crowd that erupted in a wild celebration at Wankhede. Virat bowled down to acknowledge his icon's response after Sachin clapped in agreement.
