Who is Angkrish Raghuvanshi in the DC vs. KKR match? The latest teenage IPL gem discovered by KKR

Batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has emerged as the next rising star of the Indian Premier League (IPL). On Wednesday, at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Raghuvanshi scored a half-century off only 25 deliveries against the Delhi Capitals.

Raghuvanshi reached his first IPL half-century with four boundaries and three maximums. Anrich Nortje, whose countryman Tristan Stubbs got a catch off his bowling in the fifth over of the contest, dismissed Phil Salt, forcing the batsman to come into action.

In just eight overs, Raghuvanshi and opener Sunil Narine wreaked havoc on the DC bowlers, scoring at a rate of 13 runs per over even after the pitch limitations were eased.

Who is Angkrish Raghuvanshi?

In the Indian domestic cricket circuit, Raghuvanshi plays for Mumbai. He bowls a slow, left-arm orthodox spin to counterbalance his aggressive right-hand hitting.

In October of last year, Raghuvanshi made his debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy. He has participated in eight T20 matches overall and scored 138 runs at an average of 23, with a strike rate of 115.96. He's demonstrated his remarkable striking ability with 11 boundaries and 6 maximums.

In five List A games, the 18-year-old has also participated and scored 133 runs with a strike rate of 98.50 and an average of 26.60. With the aid of 16 boundaries and three maximums, he has amassed a single half-century. He has grabbed eight catches in his limited-overs cricket career overall.

Despite being a slow bowler with a left arm, Raghuvanshi hasn't really bowled enough for teams to evaluate his ability with the ball thus far. Though he may be used mostly as an impact player this year, KKR may attempt to utilize his all-around abilities as the season goes on.
