India vs Pakistan 1st ODI

The first ODI match between India and Pakistan was played on 1 October 1978 in Quetta. This match was the first match of the three-match ODI series during India's tour of Pakistan, where both teams played 40-40 overs instead of 50 overs.

The Indian team under the captaincy of Bishan Singh Bedi registered a thrilling victory in this historic match. India batted first and scored 170/7, in response to which Pakistan's team could only reach 166/8 and India won by four runs.

In this match, Mohinder Amarnath scored a half-century and became the first 'Player of the Match' in India vs Pakistan ODI history.

However, in the next match of the series, Pakistan defeated India by eight wickets in Sialkot and leveled the series 1-1.

The decisive match played in Sahiwal ended amidst controversies when Indian captain Bishan Bedi decided to leave the match midway in protest against Sarfraz Nawaz's continuous short-pitch bowling.

Chasing Pakistan's target of 205/7, India was at a score of 183/2 in 37.4 overs, but due to abandoning the match, Pakistan was declared the winner.

Under the captaincy of Mushtaq Mohammad, Pakistan won this historic ODI series 2-1.

If we talk about India-Pakistan bilateral ODI series, then Pakistan has had the upper hand. So far 17 ODI series have been played between the two teams, in which Pakistan has won 11 times while India has been successful only 5 times.

A series played in UAE in 2006 was drawn 1-1. However, no bilateral ODI series has been played between the two teams since 2013.

Talking about the ICC ODI World Cup, here India has dominated Pakistan. So far, both the teams have faced each other 8 times in this prestigious tournament and India has won every time.

At the same time, a total of 6 matches have been played between India and Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy, out of which both the teams have won 3-3 matches.

On 20 March 1987, a very exciting ODI match was played between India and Pakistan at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad.

In this match, India batted first and scored 212/6 in 44 overs. In reply, Pakistan's team also reached 212 runs but lost seven wickets. India won this match on the basis of losing fewer wickets.
