Parveen had a double thrill when she ensured herself a medal in the women's 57kg division by reaching the semi-finals and also confirmed her place in the 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday.

On October 1, the Indian boxer overcame Uzbekistan's Sitora Turdibekova by a unanimous decision of the judges in the quarterfinals.

Parveen came out strong in round one, hitting three left punches on the target. This helped her win the first round, with all three judges rating her 10-9. Turdibekova began the second round aggressively, hitting several stiff strokes and gaining control of the situation.

The Uzbekistan boxer landed some right-hand blows that briefly stunned Parveen, but the Indian was able to use her range to repel the onslaught.

The better efforts of the Uzbek fighter were in vain, as Parveen once again swept the judges' points to lead the match, moving into the final round. Parveen was in command of the third round, forcing Turdibekova to seek a knockout to secure her victory.

Unfortunately for the Uzbek fighter, that did not happen, as Parveen won the match unanimously to go to the semi-finals and ensure India of another boxing medal.

Parveen joins Narender, Preeti Pawar, and Lovlina Borgohain as boxers who have guaranteed themselves a medal.

Narender produced an incredible comeback to reach the men's 92 kg semi-finals after defeating Iran's Iman Ramezanpourdelavar on Saturday. Preeti Pawar, 19, of India, defeated Zhaina Shekerbekova of Kazakhstan 4:1 on points to proceed to the Asian Games Women's Boxing 54kg quarterfinals and gain a ticket for the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain dominated her quarterfinal match against South Korea's Suyeon Seong, winning 5-0 and advancing to the semi-finals of the women's 75kg category, ensuring herself a medal at the Asian Games 2023.

Lovlina has yet to earn an Olympic quota since gold and silver medalists in the 66kg and 75kg weight classes will qualify.
