After PSG's Champions League exit, coach Christophe Galtier criticizes players: gave up stupid goals.
Christophe Galtier, the coach of Paris-Saint-Germain, has criticized his team for making poor defensive decisions and failing to convert chances during their Round of 16 matchups against Bayern Munich.
After being eliminated from the Champions League by Bayern Munich with a 3-0 aggregate loss, Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier has criticized his players for missing several chances in the first half.
PSG was eliminated from the Champions League in the round of 16 on March 8 when they were defeated 2-0 by Bayern Munich.
The star-studded team of coach Christophe Galtier, which features striker Kylian Mbappe and world champion Lionel Messi, was unable to score against Bayern over two legs, resulting in a 3-0 aggregate loss and the loss of their hopes of winning Europe's top club trophy for an additional year.
Galtier stated, "It's a big disappointment." We must confront it and accept it. There's a great deal of disillusionment in the changing area."
"There's a lot of frustration, and I don't know if it's a lesson to be learned. It would have been different if we had scored first, but we didn't."
PSG got off to a strong start, and France forward Mbappe had an early chance. In the 25th minute, Messi had a double chance of his own.
"When we had the chance, we didn't start scoring. "We did well in the first half, we thought we could compete with our opponents, but we didn't take our chances," Galtier stated.
Instead, Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting's goal in the 61st minute gave Bayern the lead, and Serge Gnabry's late second goal secured their victory.
"A really stupid first goal at this level was conceded by us. "You shouldn't be ashamed to play it long to get over the pressing, but there was pressure from Bayern," Galtier stated.
"It's difficult when you're behind after an hour of play."
Galtier, who refused to speculate on his future at the club, is under additional pressure due to his team's fifth last-16 exit in seven years, their most recent European defeat.
"It is a significant disappointment, but we must accept it. It is premature to discuss my future. I have a lot of energy and determination, and I'm focused on finishing the season."
