Kohli persevered through a harsh few years in worldwide cricket as the player neglected to repeat the norms he had set for himself a couple of years prior. This kind spread to the Indian Premier League, where the Indian star had a poor 2022 season.
However, Kohli had a great T20I year in 2022 because he broke his century drought during the Asia Cup and also scored hundreds in 2023 in ODIs and Tests.
Kohli will now return to RCB and play a key role as the team attempts to win its first IPL title. Pietersen revealed that he told Kohli to chill because he is an entertainer who needs to play in front of a large crowd on his blog on the beltway. Pietersen asserted that ignoring Kohli's support during his troubled period was foolish.
I've known Virat for a very long time. how he approaches the game. incredibly passionate, abrasive, and sentimental. I believe Covid did him harm. I told him that. It's Covid, and you're an entertainer, so just relax. You can't play cricket with three people and their dogs watching. to witness him achieve that 75th percent. Pietersen stated, "People were foolish not to support him and back him."
Pietersen also talked about how stressful it is to play in the Indian Premier League and said that he and Kohli once said it was like playing in the Champions League.
"All of the best players are aware that they set aside two months of the year to perform their duties. There's a ton of tension. I recall discussing this with Kohli and De Villiers three or four years ago. It's said to be similar to the Champions League. These folks are turning up realizing this isn't simply a complementary lift to proceed to procure a fast buck. "They really need to perform," Pietersen stated.
