Champions Trophy standoff: Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board, reaffirmed the board's opposition to hosting the prestigious 50-over competition using a hybrid format. Pakistan is prepared to address India's concerns, according to Naqvi. India has declined to attend the tournament in Pakistan.

INTRO
- Regarding its position to host all teams, including India, in Pakistan,
- PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi stated that the organization is amenable to communication with India.
- India wrote to the ICC to express its refusal to visit Pakistan.
The head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, reaffirmed that Pakistan opposes hosting the Champions Trophy in a hybrid format. He also offered to help India with its travel concerns, asking them to be more specific. On Monday, November 18, while examining renovations at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, Naqvi spoke to local media.
Mohsin Naqvi verified media reports that said Pakistan had sent a letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC) asking the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which is in charge of hosting the prestigious 50-over competition, asking it to provide an explanation for why it was not going to the neighbouring country.
The PCB chief emphasised that Pakistan is not interested in a hybrid model and stated that he is awaiting an answer from the ICC to decide their next course of action.
In a letter to the ICC, the BCCI announced that its senior men's team would not be going to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, which is set for February or March of the following year. The PCB's reluctance to embrace a hybrid model and the BCCI's position have caused a stalemate and postponed the release of the schedule for the highly anticipated eight-team competition.
In the meantime, Pakistan has set aside 17 billion rupees to upgrade three locations: Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi.
"Every other squad that made it to the Champions Trophy is prepared to play. Nobody is worried," stated Mohsin Naqvi.
"We will discuss any worries India may have and make sure they are addressed. In my opinion, there is no reason why India cannot visit Pakistan.
"Hopefully, all the teams will come," he continued.
In order to allow Pakistan to move forward with its preparations, Naqvi expressed confidence that the ICC would soon announce the Champions Trophy schedule.
Politics is not the same as sports. Countries should not mix them, in my opinion. Hopefully, everything will work out.
"ICC will make the schedule public; I have no doubt that they will do so shortly so that we can complete the necessary arrangements.
"We have written to them regarding every query we had. We're waiting for a response," he continued.
OUR STANCE IS VERY CLEAR: NAQVI
If Pakistan were forced to host the tournament using a hybrid model, would the PCB think about pulling out of it? Naqvi did not directly respond to the question, but he did say that he hoped the entire tournament would take place in Pakistan.
"First and foremost is respect for Pakistan. You'll see what happens if you rest. "We have previously stated our position, which is very clear," he said.
Interestingly, Pakistan also had the Asia Cup hosting rights the previous year. But after India declined to travel, the PCB was forced to use a hybrid model, hosting four games in Pakistan and the remaining nine, including the final, in Sri Lanka.
Since the 2008 Asia Cup, India has not visited Pakistan to play cricket internationally. Since the 2012–13 season, the two teams have not played bilateral cricket because of the ongoing political tensions between their neighbours.
Pakistan's proposal to host the Champions Trophy trophy tour in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) was recently criticised by the BCCI, which led the ICC to announce a revised schedule.
