Ryan Rickelton played a marathon inning of 259 runs. Temba Bavuma and Kyle Varian scored centuries. Mohammad Abbas and Salman Ali Agha took 3-3 wickets from Pakistan. South Africa is leading the series 1-0.

The third-highest score of an African opener, Rickelton scored 259 runs in 343 balls. His innings included 29 fours and 3 sixes. He was caught by Mir Hamza at the hands of Mohammad Abbas. Rickelton scored the third-highest score as a South African opener. Ahead of him are Graeme Smith and Gary Kirsten. Smith is at the top with 277 runs and Kirsten is at the second position with 275 runs.

Bavuma had an emotional celebration after the century. Temba Bavuma scored 106 runs in 179 balls. His innings included 9 fours and 2 sixes. He was caught by Mohammad Rizwan off Salman Aga. Bavuma made a partnership of 235 runs with Rickelton for the fourth wicket. Bavuma also did an emotional celebration after completing his century.

The lower order took the score past 600. After Bavuma, wicketkeeper Kyle Varian also scored a century. He hit 9 fours and 5 sixes in his 100-run innings off 147 balls. He and Rickelton shared a sixth-wicket partnership of 148 runs. He was also sent back to the pavilion by Salman Aga.

In the end, Marco Jansen scored 62 and Keshav Maharaj scored 40 to take the team's score past 600. Kwena Mphaka was dismissed without opening his account and South Africa was all out for 615 runs in the first inning.

Abbas-Agha got 3 wickets and 4 bowlers from Pakistan conceded more than 100 runs in their spells. Mohammad Abbas was the only bowler who did not score a century even after bowling more than 20 overs. He took 3 wickets for 94 runs. Salman Agha also took 3 wickets. Mir Hamza and Khurram Shahzad got 2-2 wickets each.

Pakistan lost 3 wickets. Pakistan also started their first innings in the third session of the second day. Their start was bad and the team lost 3 wickets for just 20 runs. Captain Shan Masood 2, Kamran Ghulam 12 and Saud Shakeel were out without opening the account.

At stumps, Babar Azam remained unbeaten on 31 and Mohammad Rizwan on 9 runs. The team scored 64 runs, but South Africa is still ahead by 551 runs. For the home team, Kagiso Rabada took 2 and Marco Jansen took 1 wicket.
