Gaikwad was suffering from blood cancer

Gaikwad spent the last year battling blood cancer. He was brought to King's College Hospital in London. He was met by Sandeep Patil and Dilip Vengsarkar, another former Indian batsman. Both of them urged the BCCI to help Anshuman. After this, the board gave Rs 1 crore to Anshuman Gaikwad for treatment.

He was the coach of Team India twice

Anshuman is a former opening batsman of India. He played cricket for India from 1975 to 1987. Anshuman represented India in 40 Test matches and 15 ODIs during this time. In addition, he coached Team India. He took up this responsibility twice. For the first time, he was the coach of the team from 1997 to 1999. After this, he again became the coach of the team in 2000.
