It is believed that without reciting the fast story in the worship of Sakat Chauth, this worship is considered incomplete. Let us tell you all the fast stories of Sakat Ki Chauth in detail.

First fast story of Sakat Chauth
There was a sister-in-law. The sister-in-law was rich. Her family was also big and full. The sister-in-law was poor. So poor that she used to live by serving the sister-in-law. Whatever flour and bran she got, she would come to her hut and cook and eat it. She would drink water from a broken pot and sleep on a broken cot. After waking up in the morning she would again go to serve her sister-in-law.
The festival of the year came. The sister-in-law kept tending to her hungry and thirsty sister-in-law. When night came, she did not even give flour or bran like on other days. She came to the hut empty-handed. She plucked bathua from the field. She searched and collected some rice grains. She made laddus of the grains, prepared bathua and kept it. Sakat Mata came at night. Standing near the hut, she said- Brahmani, open the door. The sister-in-law said- come on, mother, where is the door. As soon as she came inside, Sakat Mata said, I am very hungry. The sister-in-law said, eat whatever mother has given you. She kept laddus of grain and bathua dhonda in front of her.
Sakat Mata wished to sleep. She gave the broken cot to her. After sleeping for a while Sakat Mata felt the need to defecate. She asked where should she go to defecate. The sister-in-law said that the whole house is well-plastered, you can sit wherever you want. She defecated all over the house but still could not finish. She asked where should she go now. The sister-in-law said do it on my head now. She bathed her from head to toe with feces and went away. In the morning when the sister-in-law woke up, the whole hut had become golden. There was gold scattered all around. She started collecting and putting away the gold in a hurry but the gold never finished and she got tired of putting it away.
When the sister-in-law did not reach on time, the elder sister-in-law became very angry. The elder sister-in-law said that it was a festival yesterday and there was a lot of work to do. The elder sister-in-law said that she did not know yet. She sent her son and asked him to go and call her immediately. The news given by the son made the elder sister-in-law shocked. She rushed to the spot and saw that gold was scattered everywhere. She asked the elder sister-in-law who did she punch and who did she slap? The elder sister-in-law replied in a casual tone that she neither punched nor slapped anyone. All this is the grace of Sakat Mata.
The elder sister-in-law asked what service did you do that Sakat Mata became happy. The elder sister-in-law said that she did not do anything. She only gave Kanak laddus and Bathua ghonda to eat. Thus she told everything. The elder sister-in-law came home and started living like a poor person. After a year, when the festival of Sakat Mata came, she made Kanak laddus and Bathua ghonda like the elder sister-in-law. She kept the broken pot and the broken cot. And she started waiting for Sakat Mata. At night Sakat Mata knocked on the door. The sister-in-law said, "Mother, where are the doors? Open the door and come in."
Sakat Mata did the same thing that she had done to her sister-in-law last year. The sister-in-law said, "Mother, eat and drink whatever you have, nothing is hidden from you." Sakat Mata ate and drank and slept with her legs stretched out. At midnight, she bathed the house and the sister-in-law with feces and left. In the morning, the children saw that there was filth all around. The sister-in-law also came out after bathing in the filth, it was difficult to walk. The whole house was filled with stench. They said, "What have you done here?" The sister-in-law called the sister-in-law in annoyance, the sister-in-law came. The sister-in-law said sarcastically, "What you said did not happen." The sister-in-law said, "Sister, you pretended to be poor. You had everything, that is why Sakat Mata was unhappy. She felt pity for my poverty and gave me everything." You copied me and that is why this happened.
Sakat Chauth's second fasting story
A potter lived in a city. Once he made utensils and put them in the oven, but the oven did not bake. Defeated, he went to the king and started praying that the oven was not baking. The king called the Pandit and asked the reason, then the royal Pandit said that the oven will bake if a child is sacrificed every time the oven is set up. The king gave the order. The sacrifice began. The family whose turn it was would send one of their children for sacrifice.
Similarly, after a few days, it was the turn of an old woman's son on the day of Sakat. He was the support of life for the old woman. But no one can do anything against the king's order. The sad old woman was thinking that I have only one son, he too will be separated from me on the day of Sakat. The old woman gave the son a Sakat betel nut and a betel leaf of grass and said, 'Sit in the oven while taking the name of God. Sakat Mata will protect you.'
तिल-तिल सकट मनाऊँ, और सकट की रात
महतारी-पूत बिछुड़न कबहुँ न होय।
The boy was made to sit in the kiln and the old woman sat in front of Sakat Mata and started praying. Earlier it used to take many days for the kiln to bake, but this time due to the grace of Sakat Mata the kiln was baked in one night. When the potter saw it in the morning he was surprised. The kiln was baked. The old woman's son was safe and the other children had also become alive. The people of the city accepted the glory of Sakat and considered the boy blessed. Since then till today Sakat is worshipped with proper rituals.
Sakat Chauth's Third Fast Story
There was a Brahmin. He had only one son. He was very poor. His son worked for the king but he was paid very little and could hardly afford food. The festival of Sakat came. The Brahmin woman kept a fast. There was nothing in the house. She told her son that when you leave from the king's place after working, ask for some sesame seeds and jaggery so that we can do the puja. The boy went to work for the king. After working the whole day, he entered a storehouse. He closed the door from inside. There were all kinds of things lying there. But he was not in the habit of stealing. He was thinking how to steal? How can I commit a terrible sin like stealing in the month of Magh? He would repeatedly say, if I steal sesame seeds, it is a sin, if I steal jaggery, it is a sin, what should I steal in the month of Magh.
The guards heard the words and called the king. The king heard them and knocked on the door and asked who are you? The boy said, I work for you. I am very poor. My mother is fasting today. She had said that steal some sesame and jaggery from the king's house and I will worship Sakat. But I have been thinking for a long time that it is the month of Magh. If I steal sesame, it will be a sin and if I steal jaggery, it will be a sin. The king said, how can I believe that what you are saying is true. The boy said, send your man to my house and ask. The king sent men to the house. The men called the old woman. The old woman said, I cannot come out, my ghoti is torn. The men returned and told the king. The king felt pity. The king said, load as much goods as you want in the carts, it is all yours. Go home and tell your mother to worship Sakat properly and live a happy life. Now you do not need to steal. The old woman's son hailed the king and came home laden with goods. The old woman prayed and began living happily.
Sakat Chauth Ki Chauth Ki Chauth Vrat Katha
There was a king who had no children and was very sad. One day the king was sitting at the door of his house when a witch came from there and said to another woman that since morning you have seen the face of a childless king, see how the day passes. The king heard this. He came to the palace and lay down quietly. All the queens came and said to the king that king get up and eat food but the king did not get up. He said that I have such a big kingdom and so many queens but a witch told me such things without a son. Everyone in the palace became sad. But the maid of the younger queen was very clever, she said to the younger queen that the king is very sad, whatever we do, you keep watching quietly. The king's sorrow will go away.
She went and told the king that the queen is pregnant and got up and had food. The king was very happy and got up and ate and waited for nine months for a son. One day the maid tied curtains all around the room and told the king that a son was born. The king celebrated a lot and distributed a lot of wealth. He told the maid to show him the son. The maid said that his qualities are bad. See him in the wedding. The younger queen was very sad and told the maid that when the king will come to know about your lie, he will get you killed and me too. The maid said that the queen keep watching.
When the time for the wedding came, the king said that the maid should show him now. The maid said that the king should now see him in the wedding. The king started getting angry and the maid said that the planets were bad and that is why you did not show him? You have a son, it is a matter of few days, see him in the wedding. The younger queen remained unhappy. After sixteen years, marriages started coming to the king. The king said to his maidservant that now we will get the prince married. The maidservant said confirm the marriage but I will also go with the prince in the palanquin. The marriage was fixed and the wedding procession started getting ready. The king said, maidservant now show the prince. The maidservant said see him at the door. The king became silent again. The maidservant mixed sesame and jaggery in a big plate and laid a boy down and after covering him sat in the palanquin and went to the wedding procession. The younger queen would faint again and again out of grief and would say that this maidservant will bring disgrace to the king.
The wedding procession was moving on. People got tired and started resting at one place. The maid's palanquin was kept on a platform of a peepal tree. The maid went to the pond to take a bath. Sakat Devi was sitting under the same tree. Sakat Devi saw that ants were around the palanquin and were coming and going. She opened the palanquin and saw that ants took out sesame and jaggery from the plate and ate them.
Sakat Devi liked the sweet dish very much. Slowly the Goddess ate all the jaggery and sesame seeds. Now the plate was empty. When the maid returned after taking bath, she saw Sakat Devi sitting there and the plate was empty. Now what happened was that the maid started crying loudly holding Sakat Mata's feet. She said, you have taken my son, my son Dev, my son was lying in the plate. You have eaten him. Now you will give me my son only then I will leave your feet. Now Sakat Mata got stuck in a big problem. She said, okay leave your feet and take the son. Sakat Devi gave a handsome sixteen year old prince. The maid was very happy. The wedding procession reached the door. The king said, maid, now the time has come, show the prince.
The maid removed the curtain from the palanquin. The king was stunned to see the prince and said, he was so handsome that is why you did not show him to me. The wedding took place with great pomp and show. When the wedding procession returned, the younger queen was lying unconscious with grief, who knows what must have happened? When the wedding procession arrived at the door, the maidservant came running and said to the younger queen, "Come and do the Parchan of the prince and the daughter-in-law." The queen was overjoyed to see the son and daughter-in-law. The maidservant said, "Queen, we had brought the son worth one and a quarter paseri. You prepare one and a quarter maund of sesame seeds and jaggery and distribute it as prasad to everyone. You have got a son by the grace of Sakat Mata."
