The captain of DC, Rishabh Pant, received a one-match suspension and a fine of INR 30 lakh for the over-rate infraction committed by his side against RR. For violating the IPL Code of Conduct, Pant has been suspended for one match. On May 07, 2024, during Match 56 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against the Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, his team maintained a sluggish over-rate.
Pant will therefore be absent from DC's pivotal game against the RCB on Sunday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. It is important to remember that DC is still competing in the Indian Premier League and that a loss will result in their elimination.
"The Delhi Capitals filed an appeal contesting the match referee's decision in accordance with Article 8 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The appeal was then sent to the BCCI Ombudsman for assessment after that. The BCCI said in a news release that the Ombudsman had a virtual hearing and confirmed that the match referee's ruling is still final and enforceable.
This season, Pant has been essential to DC's comeback, particularly after a rough beginning. DC has become one of the most thrilling teams to watch in both facets of the game with the contributions of Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Jake Fraser-McGurk. Pant has led his players admirably; their performance against GT on the road was at its best. With DC bowling out GT for just 89 runs under Pant's skillful management, Pant was named player of the match.
DC is currently tied for 5th place in the league table with both CSK and LSG. There are still two games for DC: one against LSG and one against RCB. Rishabh Pant will return to the game in 2024 after a hiatus of more than a year. After a near-fatal accident in December 2022, Pant had to put in a lot of effort to get back into the sport he loves.
