Why does Santa Claus give gifts on Christmas?
Santa Claus's true name is Saint Nicholas. Although Santa Claus and Jesus Christ are unrelated, Santa plays a significant part in the Christmas celebration. In the third century, Saint Nicholas was born in the Turkish city of Myra. Historians estimate that he was born roughly 280 years after Jesus Christ died.
Saint Nicholas grew up in a monastery after the death of his parents and became a priest at an early age. He was of a very kind nature and used to give gifts to children. Not only this, it is said that even after his death, when everyone was fast asleep on Christmas night, he used to go to give gifts to children. Saint Nicholas was always at the forefront to help the needy.
Due to this nature of his, even after his death, people did not let this tradition go away and since then common people started giving gifts to children at night by wearing Santa Claus's costume.
