WPL 2024, RCB vs. MI highlights
Before the game, only the Delhi Capitals and the Mumbai Indians, the reigning champions, had guaranteed their playoff berths. While UPW and GG needed Smriti Mandhana and Co. to suffer a crushing loss to have a chance, RCB would have been given momentum by a win.
Bangalore, on the other hand, left nothing to chance this time and easily advanced to the knockout stages after suffering a devastating one-run loss to DC in their previous match. Mandhana chose to bowl first, and her team was able to limit MI to a manageable 113 thanks to Perry's six-wicket haul. The Australian all-rounder then helped RCB achieve the victory total of 115 for 3 in just 15 overs with an unbeaten 40 and a 76-run stand with Richa Ghosh (36 not out).
With the bat, Mumbai got off to a strong start as openers S Sajana and Hayley Matthews combined for 43 runs. But soon after, Perry produced a gem of seam bowling, and the innings fell apart. After making an incredible catch to remove him, the right-arm pacer gave up just two runs in her opening over. MI lost their last nine wickets for a pitiful 48 runs, with Perry taking six wickets in her final three overs.
Perry persisted in attacking the stumps and nipping the ball both ways, despite having failed to take a wicket in her previous four WPL matches. The 33-year-old clean bowled Sajana, Amanjot Kaur, Pooja Vastrakar, captain Harmanpreet Kaur, and Natalie Sciver-Brunt leg before Amelia Kerr.

Early in the game, Bangalore lost their openers, Mandhana and Sophie Molineux, and immediately after the powerplay, Sophie Devine. Mumbai tried to put more pressure on Perry and Ghosh, but they remained firm and increased the scoring rate gradually. With nine fours and three sixes amongst the right-handers, RCB was assured a spot in the eliminator.
On Wednesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Delhi Capitals take on the Gujarat Giants in their last league stage match to go straight to the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 championship game. DC is ready to play their last WPL game against the Gujarat Giants and has already earned a postseason spot. With 5-wins, two losses, and ten points overall, DC is in the lead.
