A "Sanatana Dharma Rakshana Board" should be established, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said on Friday as the issue over the ingredients in Tirupati laddoos grew.

In a post on X, the Jana Sena Party chief said, "We are all deeply disturbed by the discovery of animal fats (fish oil, pig fat and cow fat) being mixed in Tirupati Balaji Prasadam. The TTD board constituted by the YCP government will have to answer many questions." He said the Andhra government is committed to taking strict action.

Tirupati Balaji Temple

Adulteration in the Prasad of Tirupati Venkateshwara Temple has been confirmed. Animal fat has been found in the ghee used to make the Prasad. The ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has claimed that the adulteration has been confirmed by the Gujarat-based livestock laboratory.

The TDP has said that beef fat, fish oil and palm oil were being used to make the laddus distributed as Prasad. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has raised the demand for forming a "Sanatan Dharma Rakshan Board."

"Now is the right moment to establish a National 'Sanatana Dharma Rakshana Board' to investigate all temple-related matters throughout the country of India," the minister penned. He asserted that, among other people, policymakers, religious leaders, the judiciary, the public, and the media need to have a "debate."

The controversy started when Andhra Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said on Thursday that pig fat, rather than ghee, was used to produce the laddoo "prasadam" at Tirumala during the former regime of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Later, The Indian Express was informed by state minister and national general secretary of the Telugu Desam Party Nara Lokesh Naidu that a laboratory test of the ghee used to make the laddoos had proved the presence of beef tallow and fish oil.

The YSRCP, which had rejected Naidu's allegations, went silent on Thursday after the Telugu Desam Party's social media accounts released the alleged test results.

Pawan Kalyan added in his statement on Friday that the results also draw attention to problems with "desecration of temples, its land issues," and other dharmic activities.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said this

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said on social media regarding this matter, "We are all very upset about the addition of animal fat (fish oil, pork fat and beef fat) in Tirupati Balaji Prasad. The TTD board formed by the then YCP government will have to answer many questions. Our government is committed to take strict action. But, this highlights many issues related to the desecration of temples, land issues and other religious practices."

He further said, "Now the time has come to form a 'Sanatan Dharma Rakshan Board' at the national level to consider all the issues related to temples across India. This should be debated at the national level by all the policy makers, religious heads, judiciary, citizens, media and all others in their respective fields. I think we all should come together to stop the insult of 'Sanatan Dharma' in any form."

He continued, "I believe that in order to stop the desecration of 'Sanathana Dharma' in any way, we should all band together." Source: abplive and indianexpress
