Russia asserts that a ceasefire in Ukraine will not accomplish our objectives.

The Kremlin stated on Friday that Russia would not be able to achieve the objectives of its "special military operation" at this time if there was a ceasefire in Ukraine.

Russia asserts that a ceasefire in Ukraine will not accomplish our objectives.

Russia said on Friday that a truce in Ukraine wouldn't empower it to accomplish the objectives of its "exceptional military activity" right now.

After Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Russia's closest ally demanded an immediate ceasefire without conditions and that Moscow and Kyiv begin negotiations on a long-term peace agreement, the Kremlin responded.

Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for the Kremlin, told reporters that Russia had taken note of Lukashenko's remarks and that President Vladimir Putin would talk about them with him the following week. However, he stated that a cease-fire would not be sufficient to accomplish Russia's objectives in Ukraine at this time.

Nothing is changing regarding Ukraine. Peskov stated, "The special military operation is continuing because that is the only means available to us today to achieve our goals."

"Unrealizable at the moment, due to the unwillingness -- or rather the inability -- of the Ukrainian side to disobey their supervisors and commanders," he stated of a China-sponsored peace plan for Ukraine.

That was a reference to Moscow's cases - - unsupported by proof - - that Ukraine's Western benefactors have requested Kyiv not to seek a truce.

Peskov stated, "As we know, these commanders are not sitting in Kyiv and insist that the war continues."

Russia has stated that it is open to peace, but that this would only be in accordance with its terms. It states that Kyiv must accept the "new realities" on the ground, where Russia has claimed to have seized and annexed more than six percent of Ukrainian territory.

Ukraine claims that a ceasefire would only allow Russia to regroup for future military action and that Russia must withdraw its troops prior to any peace agreement.

Moscow asserts that the United States of America and its allies are using Ukraine as part of a "hybrid war" with the intention of causing Russia a strategic defeat. The West and Ukraine contend that Russia's assertions are unfounded justifications for its invasion.
