Liverpool supervisor Jurgen Klopp on rout against Manchester City: It's hard to accept how we gave away goals.

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, freely admitted that it was difficult to accept how the Reds lost to Manchester City 1-4 in the Premier League on Saturday (April 1).

After City returned to the Premier League following the international break, Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, and Jack Grealish scored for City, Liverpool failed to end their away league losses against City since 2015.

Although Klopp noted that Liverpool had their moments during the match at the Etihad Stadium, he deemed the defeat "unacceptable."

"We've seen the first half a few times when we've played here. We had spells, whereas the city always had more possession. After the match, Klopp told the BBC that "we played calmly, remained composed, and caused them problems."

"Had another big moment but gave up a wonderful goal. They finished it off because of the unfortunate way the ball went through [Andy] Robertson's legs, but when they came out after halftime and gave away two quick goals, everything fell apart."

Coming back from a goal down against Liverpool, City, who were without their goal-scoring machine Erling Haaland, reaffirmed their dominance. In the 17th minute, Liverpool scored their 23rd goal, giving them an early advantage. However, in the 27th minute, City roared, and Jack Grealish crossed for Julian Alvarez to level the score at 1-1.

After the restart, Alvarez's pass found Riyad Mahrez, who crossed for Kevin de Bruyne to score from close range. City's third goal was soon scored by Ilkay Gundogan. After receiving a cross from Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish scored with perfect timing to put Liverpool out of the game.

"The objectives, how we surrendered is hard to acknowledge - we didn't place in that frame of mind for all things considered. To be honest, that is absolutely unacceptable. After that, the city had full control, we were open, and they could do whatever they wanted. Thank you, that only added one more goal. "That's really bad news for us, and it could have been different," stated Klopp.

"Eventually, we had minutes yet overall how we lost everything, was unsuitable. It's hard to be 3-1 down here, but there was nothing else; about four players played well, and the rest were somewhere I don't know. After three days, we play another strong team. We have to work with what we saw today because we now see it more frequently, so tomorrow is a big day for us."
