The comedian Samay Raina made an appearance before the Maharashtra Cyber Police in Navi Mumbai on Monday, according to officials, weeks after being called in relation to India's Got Latent case. Raina apologized for his comments on the show in his statement, acknowledging that they were unintentional and made in the heat of the moment.
Raina gave the police his word that he would take precautions to make sure that similar incidents don't occur again. Additionally, he claimed that his Canada tour did not go as planned and that the controversy had negatively impacted his mental health.
"I sincerely apologise for what I said. "I had no intention of saying it, and it happened in the course of the show," he said.
"I realise that what I said was wrong," he continued.
Raina was required to appear in person as part of an ongoing investigation with the Mumbai Police after the Maharashtra Cyber Police denied his previous request to record his statement via video conference.
The case was brought about by an obscenity complaint against YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia for remarks he made on Raina's show, India's Got Latent. About fifty individuals connected to the program were summoned by the Cyber Police after they filed a formal complaint.
YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani and Allahbadia were interrogated for almost five hours last month. Both later made separate appearances at the Cyber Police headquarters in Navi Mumbai after initially avoiding the summons.
