At the Mumbai airport, officials gather around a damaged plane after it swerved off the runway with six passengers and two crew members on board (PTI).

Due to bad visibility in the city, a private aeroplane crashed landed at Mumbai airport.

On Thursday, a private plane carrying eight passengers went off the runway at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport, followed by a disaster when landing in heavy weather. According to the airport administration, eight persons were injured, including a crew member, and were brought to the nearest hospital.

The aircraft went off the runway due to poor visibility caused by heavy rain, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

A video clip was published showing cloudy grey skies filling the airspace above the airport and the aircraft laying destroyed on the runway's margins. There were also fire engines and an airport rescue squad on the scene.
