In India, one of the most popular payment apps is Google Pay. Additionally, Google has improved the user experience overall by adding a few additional capabilities to its payments app. Google unveiled a number of new features at the Global Fintech Fest 2024, including Clickpay QR, UPI Circle, and UPI Vouchers, all of which are scheduled to launch later this year. The goal of each of these upgrades is to make digital payments even more convenient for individuals all over India by streamlining the way users handle and carry out their financial transactions.

UPI Circle

One of the most popular payment apps in India is Google Pay. Additionally, Google has updated its payments app with a few new features to further improve the user experience overall. During the Global Fintech Fest 2024, Google revealed a number of new features that will be available later in the year, such as Clickpay QR, UPI Circle, and UPI Vouchers. With each of these upgrades, users will be able to perform and manage their financial transactions more easily, resulting in even more frictionless digital payments for individuals all throughout India.

-- Partial Delegation: Every payment request made by a secondary user requires approval from the primary user, who nonetheless maintains total authority.

-- Full Delegation: The secondary user can make payments independently within the monthly limit that the primary user sets, up to a maximum of Rs 15,000.

UPI Vouchers

Additionally, Google Pay is enhancing the capabilities of UPI vouchers, which were first made available for COVID-19 vaccine payments. With UPI vouchers, users can transfer prepaid vouchers that are connected to the cellphone number of the recipient. The recipient does not need to connect a bank account to UPI in order to use these vouchers for payments.

It is now possible for people and businesses to issue and use UPI vouchers more easily thanks to the adaptation of this feature for a wider range of industries. In addition to making financial transactions for users easier, UPI Vouchers offer a smooth digital payment option for a variety of scenarios, including corporate gifts, government programs, and others.

Clickpay QR

Google Pay has launched Clickpay QR in collaboration with NPCI Bharat Billpay to further enhance bill payment convenience. Simply use the Google Pay app to scan a Clickpay QR code to make bill payments thanks to this functionality. Billers can generate a QR code that gives users access to the most recent bill details immediately, removing the need for users to memorise account numbers or customer IDs.

The whole user experience is enhanced by this streamlined approach, which guarantees bill payments are quick, accurate, and hassle-free.

Prepaid Utilities Payment

Google Pay is adding prepaid utility payments as part of its expansion into the recurring payments space. With Google Pay, users can now search and connect their prepaid utility accounts - such as those for electricity or housing society bills - directly. The feature aims to streamline the process of managing and monitoring recurring payments within the app.

Users will gain from having a single platform to manage all of their recurring payment requirements as additional utility providers fall into this group.

Tap & Pay with RuPay Cards

To make payments even easier, Google Pay has introduced Tap & Pay feature for RuPay cards. This feature allows users to link their RuPay cards to Google Pay and make payments by tapping their mobile phone on the card machine. The card details are stored securely, ensuring that the 16-digit card number remains safe during transactions.

RuPay cardholders now have even more convenience when making payments thanks to this feature, which eliminates the need for actual cards.

Autopay for UPI Lite

AutoPay for UPI Lite is finally being introduced by Google Pay. When a user's UPI Lite balance drops below a predetermined amount, this feature immediately tops it off for them. A more straightforward version of UPI intended for small-ticket transactions is called UPI Lite. Users can keep making little payments with AutoPay without worrying about an inadequate balance.

Google Pay is dedicated to enhancing the usability and accessibility of digital payments for all Indian citizens, as evidenced by these new features. Google Pay is laying the groundwork for a more convenient and inclusive financial ecosystem by streamlining bill payments, utilising prepaid vouchers, and delegating payments.
