A second Vande Bharat train for the city has been announced by Railways, and it will begin service on Thursday.

Chandigarh has been added to the weekly train that formerly traveled between Ajmer and Delhi Cantt.

The extension, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM) flagged off on Tuesday, is anticipated to enhance the city's connectivity to Rajasthan and New Delhi, the nation's capital.

Every Thursday at 6.20 a.m., the Vande Bharat Superfast Express (train number 20977) leaves Ajmer, arrives in Delhi Cantt at 11.30 a.m., and arrives in Chandigarh at 2.45 p.m. On Thursday, it will set out on its return trip from Chandigarh at 3:15 p.m. and reach Delhi Cantt at 6:23 p.m. This expanded route, which would help commuters commuting between Punjab, Ajmer, Jaipur, and Delhi, will make stops at Jaipur, Gurugram, and Delhi Cantt. It is also anticipated to increase commerce and tourism.

The other Vande Bharat train in Chandigarh operates six days a week, excluding Friday.

Ten new Vande Bharat trains were inaugurated by the PM, along with other projects worth over 85,000 crores, including the extension of four existing routes. There are 51 Gati Shakti cargo terminals, 222 goods sheds, 50 Jan Aushadhi Kendras, 1,500 one-station one-product (OSOP) projects, 35 rail coach eateries, two passenger trains, seven freight trains, and 222 goods sheds.

Increases to the Rajpura-Bathinda rail stretch by two times, the Gati Shakti freight terminal, 8 goods sheds, seven OSOP projects, one Janaushadhi Kendra, and 13 cargo handling points were all beneficial to the Ambala Division.

Mandeep Singh Bhatia, the divisional railway manager of Ambala, and UT administrator Banwarilal Purohit attended the Ludhiana opening.
