UPS News: Professor Somesh Shukla said that after the publication of this important research, its suggestions were sent to the Prime Minister's Office and the Personnel Department of the Government of India.

The Integrated Pension Scheme launched by the government amid growing demand for the resumption of the old pension scheme is based on the recommendations of the team of the Department of Commerce of Lucknow University. The research of the Integrated Pension System announced by the Government of India is based on the research and recommendations done by Professor Somesh Kumar Shukla, Dr. Amit Mishra, Abhishek Dwivedi and his team of the Department of Commerce, Lucknow University. Dr. Somesh's team conducted a comparative analysis of "OPS and NPS" and published it in September 2023 in UGC CARE under ISSN 2348-8425.

In this research, Prof. Shukla and Dr. Amit Mishra, Abhishek Dwivedi, and two other lead researchers did an in-depth comparison between the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and the National Pension System (NPS). In this analysis, they assessed the long-term sustainability, financial impact, and effects of both schemes on the post-retirement lifestyle of employees. Their study highlighted that there is a need for an integrated pension system, which can provide a balanced and sustainable retirement framework for government employees by combining the security of OPS and the growth potential of NPS.

Somesh Shukla gave this important information

Professor Somesh Shukla told ABP Live that after the publication of this important research, its suggestions were sent to the Prime Minister's Office and the Department of Personnel of the Government of India, from where they were sent to the Pension Department for further review and after extensive review and discussions, the government has decided to adopt most of the suggestions proposed by Prof. Shukla and his team with some modifications.

Professor Somesh Shukla said that the new integrated pension system aims to provide a more balanced and reliable retirement plan by combining the fixed benefits of OPS with the market-linked returns of NPS. However, one of the major suggestions that the government did not include is the provision of medical benefits for employees and their families, which was originally suggested to be covered from 10% of the pension fund.
