"Won't die an ordinary death": Captain Anshuman Singh Kirti Chakra widow remembers their talk with the Kirti Chakra recipient
President Droupadi Murmu gave Smriti the Kirti Chakra when she was dressed in a white saree, which stood for both her resiliency and grief.
India's second-highest peacetime gallantry honor, the Kirti Chakra, was posthumously given to Captain Anshuman Singh awarded Kirti Chakra posthumously Friday in a moving and emotional ceremony. President Droupadi Murmu gave the award, and Smriti Singh, his wife, accepted it. "With a brass on my chest, I would die." Thinking back on her husband's remarks, a heartbroken but proud Smriti said, "I would not die an ordinary death."
Smriti stood with her mother-in-law, Manju Singh, at her side during a very emotional event. President Draupadi Murmu gave her the Kirti Chakra, and she accepted it while sporting a white saree that represented her resiliency and suffering. The event was a solemn opportunity to remember and celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of Capt. Anshuman Singh.
The sorrow-stricken expression on Smriti's face served as a moving reminder of the individual loss experienced by the families of our country's heroes. She stood tall to respect her husband's history, but she also exuded strength and pride.
A Ministry of Defense spokesman published a moving video on 'X', the previous Twitter platform, on Saturday in which Smriti talked about her special recollections of Capt. Anshuman Singh. She described how they met and became soulmates, describing their intense connection. Her comments, which were brimming with reverence and affection, created a clear image of a devoted policeman and a devoted husband, both of whose memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
