The Nord series, which OnePlus launched two years ago, is aimed at budget-conscious customers who want the best products at a reasonable price. The Nord CE 3 Lite 5G and the Nord Buds 2 are the most recent products in OnePlus' Nord series that are available in India. I'll talk about my experience with the new OnePlus Nord Buds 2 wireless earbuds in this review.
I've had the OnePlus Nord Buds 2 for about ten days now. There are two color options for the earbuds: Thunder in gray and Lightning in white. The gray model was sent to us by OnePlus for review; I think it looks pretty sturdy, but the design is not unique. Similar to other basic wireless earbuds in this price range, it appears to be. In fact, the design of the Nord Buds 2 is influenced by its predecessor. While the buds look essential from an external perspective, they check the appropriate boxes with regards to execution.
The price of the OnePlus Nord Buds 2 is Rs 2999. Now, I have to say that OnePlus has killed it with the price of the buds because it's hard to find good wireless earbuds that do everything right for under Rs 3000. Even though the Nord Buds 2 provide excellent audio performance for the money and last a long time, the earbuds could have been better in a few areas. However, the price is ultimately the deciding factor, and as previously stated, OnePlus has sealed the deal by pricing the Nord Buds 2 so aggressively.
OnePlus Nord Buds 2 design, fit
The OnePlus Nord Buds 2 has a design that is very similar to the Nord Buds and is light enough to wear all day. Even though the flat stem design makes it appear less expensive, it stands out from other earbuds at this price point. Now, just because I didn't like the flat stem design as much as you will, doesn't mean you won't either. Because preferences for design vary from person to person, I'll let you decide. However, the fact that the earbuds are lightweight and I frequently forgot I had them on is a positive feature. The charging case also has a simple design: it's an oval with OnePlus written on the top. You can use your phone charger to charge the case because it has a USB Type C charging port.
Each earbud has a tiny, shiny, circular-shaped button at the top of a short stem. To play or pause music, answer or reject calls, and activate the voice assistant, simply tap this circular button. Simply press the button once to play or pause the music; a double tap will advance you to the next track, and a triple tap will return you to the previous one. If you own a smartphone from the Nord series, OnePlus is now also giving you more options by letting you customize the gestures in the Bluetooth settings. To customize the gestures on other Android and iOS phones, users will need to download the Hey Melody app. The touch controls worked well, but it sometimes missed something. As a result, I sometimes had to tap the stem twice.
Now, there was a reason why I said that I didn't like the flat system personally. I found the fit to be a little uncomfortable, especially when I was moving around. The earbuds fit well and did not slip out of my ear while I was sitting and working in the office. But it frequently fell off my ears while I was moving or working out, so I had to be extra careful. Because they are so small, it's easy to lose them. However, they are protected by an IP55 rating, which is a plus. When you work out, you won't have to worry about the earbuds getting wet or sweaty because of this. However, running on a treadmill might necessitate extreme caution.
OnePlus Nord Buds 2 connectivity, performance, call quality
To be honest, I say: at the cost, I wasn't anticipating that Nord Buds 2 should sound great, however the headphones truly shocked me. Truth be told, the Nord Buds 2 are certainly one of the most outstanding remote headphones you will track down in this cost range. For bass lovers, the 12.4mm drivers provide sufficient thump, which is truly difficult to find at this price point.
The buds provide a satisfying listening experience, whether you're listening to Ed Sheeran's Shape of You or Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's Senorita. The fact that the bass doesn't overpower the vocals is what I liked best. Even more surprising was the fact that the sound of instruments playing in the background was crystal clear, something that rarely happens with earbuds this expensive. As a result, when listening to Shiva Stotram, which features a number of instruments playing simultaneously in the background, each instrument's sound was distinct in its own way and very clear and crisp.
The Nord Buds 2 have a very loud volume level. All through my OnePlus Buds 2 audit period, I set the volume somewhere in the range of 50 and 60 percent. In any case, when my partners were excessively garrulous, I expanded the volume level somewhat, up to 70 percent. Therefore, the Buds 2 became quite loud even when the volume was around 60%. It's also great to see that these affordable OnePlus earbuds come with active noise cancellation (ANC). Notably, the ANC did not support the prior model. This indicates that the brand-new wireless earbuds effectively block out the noise from the environment and make it simple for me to complete my work in the presence of chatty coworkers.
Calling is another area where the Nord Buds 2 excel. The person on the other end of the call never complained about not receiving a clear response in the majority of cases. The fact that the call quality does not suffer at all during my nighttime stroll through Noida's society is impressive. However, there were times when the wind noise was too loud for the earbuds to block, which caused me some problems.
The Nord Buds 2 support Quick Switch for connectivity. You can quickly switch between your connected laptop or smartphone with this feature, as the name suggests. Additionally, the earbuds support Fast Pair, which means that each time you open the lid and wear them, they will automatically connect to your smartphone. By and large, interfacing the Nord Buds 2 was very simple and an outright easy decision.
OnePlus Nord Buds 2 battery life
When the ANC is off, OnePlus claims that the Nord Buds 2 can provide listening time of up to 7 hours and 30 minutes on a single charge. The company claims that the earbuds have a battery life of 5 hours and 30 minutes on a single charge when the ANC is turned on. The wireless earbuds lasted approximately 5 hours on a single charge for me. The charging case could easily charge the buds four times without running out of power. Therefore, the Nord Buds 2 charging case's overall battery life is approximately 25 hours. The icing on the cake is the support for fast charging that comes with the earbuds.
OnePlus Nord Buds 2 review: Should you buy?
At Rs 2999, the OnePlus Nord Buds 2 remote headphones are a phenomenal arrangement. They have touch controls and a basic design with a short, flat stem that works most of the time. The earbuds provide excellent audio performance and a long battery life; Currently, features like these are uncommon in earbuds this pricey. Additionally, the Nord Buds 2 earbuds are very simple to set up and perform well when answering calls. There was no distortion in the majority of instances. In addition, OnePlus has included ANC support in this generation of Nord Buds, which effectively eliminates background noise. Overall, the new Nord Buds 2 earbuds are a worthy and practical upgrade from their predecessor and one of the best options available for less than Rs. 3000.
