Chris Evert, the 18-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one, praised top seed Iga Swiatek, describing her as the most reliable and consistent female tennis player. Siwatek has 10.585 focuses in the WTA rankings, 4,485 focuses in front of second-put Aryna Sabalenka.

Evert told Eurosport that Swiatek is an excellent athlete and competitor, but that her emotional breakdown might be to blame for some of her recent defeats. Last month, Barbora Krejcikova defeated Swiatek in the Dubai Tennis Championships final.

The 68-year-old said Swiatek has a target on her back and remains the player to beat. Since Ash Barty left tennis last year, Swiatek has remained the world number one player.

The American said Swiatek is playing over and above anyone's expectations and stays the most steady and reliable player in the ladies' circuit.

She's playing better than ever, in my opinion. She may occasionally not perform to her full potential, but I still consider her to be the most reliable and consistent player available. Despite her average play, she will still win nine out of ten matches. So I believe she's playing over and above anyone's expectations," Evert added.
